Jared Ogden, FOUNDER
Jared Ogden is the founder of Phoenix Patriot Foundation, a 501(c)3 whose mission revolves around creating opportunities for combat wounded veterans and assisting in their return to a life of service. Additionally, Jared sits on U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson’s Service Academy Selection Committee.
As a graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science, Jared is a dual warfare qualified Naval Officer as a SEAL and Surface Warfare Officer. As a SEAL Officer, he operated with distinction in both Afghanistan and the Arabian Gulf. He is a combat decorated veteran and among his numerous military awards, he was awarded the Bronze Star with “V” for Valor while at SEAL Team ONE.
During his second deployment to Afghanistan as a SEAL Officer, Jared’s teammate and friend was severely injured by an IED resulting in the amputation of both his legs and severe internal injuries. Returning from Afghanistan in the spring of 2010, Jared founded the Phoenix Patriot Foundation to give back to patriots who have been injured in combat and help them continue their service to their country while reintegrating to civilian life.
Most recently, Jared has represented the Department of Defense (DoD) on National Geographic Channel’s flagship program ULTIMATE SURVIVAL ALASKA, for two seasons.
Jared is currently a public speaker and entrepreneur and gives presentations and speeches throughout the country on a wide variety of topics, while working on business ventures, including Triumph Systems.
John Paulson, President & CEO
John Paulson is a registered professional engineer who has lived in Sandy Springs, Georgia for more than 25 years.
John currently serves as President of Dison Contracting and Supply, a consulting firm specializing in geosynthetics and reinforced soil structure design and construction. He has had an active professional career in geosynthetics and the geotextiles manufacturing and design fields, has authored numerous technical publications, and continues to work for Exxon Chemical, Nicolon, and working as an engineering consultant within the civil engineering community worldwide.
John’s volunteerism includes service with the American Legion Post 140 as the Post Service Officer, as past president of the Northridge Community Association and as a past board member of the Dunwoody Homeowners Association. John is also a council member for the city of Sandy Springs, GA where he has served since 2009.
A native of Chicago, John earned his degree in engineering from the University of Illinois. John is a Vietnam US Marine combat infantry veteran and served as an infantryman. He and his wife Mary have two children, Stephanie and Jeffrey.
Gabriel Sterling - At Large
Mr. Sterling has been an ambassador for Phoenix Patriot Foundation since 2014 when he worked on the Atlanta fundraiser.
He currently serves as vice chairman of the local charity organization, The Sandy Springs Challenge, which raises money for Sandy Springs through sporting events. He led efforts to bring Livestrong’s 24 Hours of Booty cycling event to Sandy Springs. The event raises money for cancer survivorship and the Aflac Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Gabeowns a public relations and political consulting firm, SSH, Inc., in Sandy Springs, GA. He is now working on a new venture to launch a new beer label and brewery."
KEN PATTON - at large
Served over 30 years in higher education and retiring as a College Dean overseeing career education and economic development with an emphasis in Advanced Manufacturing. During his tenure in this capacity, he served on numerous Boards of Directors (BOD) for non-profits at the local, state, and national level. Ken is Currently living in Temecula Valley, California where he has been on the BOD of two non-profits, “The One Good Day Project” which is focused on equine therapy for veterans and the “Fire and Burn Foundation” serving first responders and burn victims and their families.
Ken has demonstrated his commitment to public service and very supportive of veterans and their families and is committed to assisting the Phoenix Patriot Foundation grow and be able to continue providing valuable support services for post 9/11 veterans and their families.
Darrin Isham, CALIFORNIA CHAPTER CHAIRMAN/PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Darrin served 25 years in the United States Navy as a Navy SEAL and member of the Naval Special Warfare Community, retiring with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. He completed ten overseas deployments, six of which were combat deployments supporting OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
It was during his last deployment to Afghanistan, where Darrin was on a mission that witnessed a teammate severely injured from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). It was this event that inspired the creation of Phoenix Patriot Foundation (PPF), and has created a strong connection for Darrin to PPF.
He continues to serve the military and Department of Defense, supporting Science and Technology projects, where he is involved with demonstrating and assessing emerging technology for the warfighter.
Darrin has been involved with PPF ever since its inception, serving in a variety of roles to include, Executive Director, Operations Manager, and Music Program Manager. He brings an in depth level of experience as a leader, mentor, and active member in the veteran community, who has worked with numerous veteran service organizations. He currently serves as the Chairman of the California Chapter and Program Director for PPF.
TONY VILLEGAS, OPERATIONS manager
Tony is an Army and California National Guard Veteran with a background in telecommunications. He has been a Chaplains Assistant, and served as Chaplain and Color Guard for the Norco American Legion Post 328. A past trainer with the ROTC, Tony has also volunteered for the American Cancer Society and volunteers his DJ services with the California Employment Development Riverside Center. As an active supporter of veterans’ organizations, Tony understands the challenges that post-911 veterans are faced with.
As the Operations and Office Manager for the foundation, Tony manages day to day administrative duties, and is a member of the Phoenix Patriot Band and active with the Music program. Married to Lisa Villegas, who also volunteers for the foundation, Tony brings over 30 years of combined experience as a manager and a technician to the foundation.
