Working to create breathes new life into a piece of wood, and this speaks to many veterans who find woodworking to be a creative way to express their rebirth. There are many forms of therapy. Art, music, athletics, and group therapy are all forms of therapy that enable us to express ourselves and heal. Creating a piece of art requires time, effort, concentration and a personal relationship, where things come alive.
While working on wood craftsmen become totally immersed in the task before them enabling them to forget painful memories.
Selection of the wood is a personal connection, allowing the veteran to decide which piece will become a new work of art. Phoenix Patriot Foundation provides the resources, including tools, wood, and instructors for woodworking.
Your donations can be directed to the Craftsman program to help with resources for the veterans who are in the program. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
