Event Name: Hot Products Mark Hahn 300 February 28th, 2015
Event Location: Crazy Horse Campgrounds, City of Lake Havasu, Arizona Event Date: Saturday February 28th, 2015
Staging Dates: February 26th-27th
Departure Date: March 1st
Never Quit Challenge 300 Teams will be competing on Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra® Personal Water Craft rotating operating on a 10 mile race track when refueling is required. Although this is a long standing race venue, the participation of Phoenix Patriots is grounded in the spirit of our Never Quit Challenge events. This venue allows our Veteran participants to compete with national and international ranked PWC race teams. Our 7 Fielded Combat Wounded-Veteran race teams will be competing on 6 stock Kawasaki race boats.
These Phoenix Patriots will be trading places when it’s time to refuel the craft and the pit crews will have to recover the Veteran from the waterline with the craft 25' away to refuel in a NASCAR style 'pit' format with approximately 13 NQC Crew Members for each pit stop.
The race should last between 4-6 hours depending upon the water and weather conditions. Historically Lake Havasu has been generally calm and flat, however on occasion the winds rose up making this a very challenging environment on top of the endurance requirements of machine and racer.
We are honored to have a Gold Star Family participating as Pit crew and one of the dedicated race teams! They will be representing our Memorial namesake and beloved son, brother and father (SEAL) IC1 Thomas Retzer and will be chairing a family team. Tommy’s name will be one of the dedicated Jet Ski Ultra® race craft we hope his boat and family does well! His boat race #626 commemorates Tommy’s KIA date.
Purple Heart recipients; Combat wounded, Veterans and Ambassadors and their family members will be arriving from across the United States to support one another in the spirit of PPF at the 300.
We began strong preparations in January and have begun daily group communication and team planning.
We have PPF Patriots coming from Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Florida and California! This is our first PPF NQC project of 2015 and we are really excited about this huge undertaking!
The NQC has 7 race Jet Ski Ultra® and 2 safety Personal Watercraft on the track monitoring their route. PPF has invested a lot of time in structuring the land and water safety of the event on every thoughtful level. We have an incredible team of volunteer altruistic individuals who are dedicated to supporting PPF programs and combat wounded adventures.
We have been prepping personal protective equipment, vessels and trailers and are appreciative of the Personal Watercraft industry support and donations from many amazing contributors and companies! We have enjoyed strong support from Kawasaki, Liquid Militia Clothing and Hydro Turf, our mainstay NQC supporters.
These type of Combat Wounded, Memorial and Family gatherings create a strong bond and bring together partners as well as participants in all our outreach programs under one unified front. We encourage fellowship and a determination to continue to set goals, move ahead of situations that do not allow traction in their present form; these are break through events for everyone involved. We often refer to them simply as ‘hardships’, and there is no denying these challenges live up to the name.
One of our combat wounded Veterans will be racing the #562 numbers on his Jet Ski Ultra® commemorating the day he was blown up by an IED while on deployment. We are a moving memorial, everything our teams undertake are in honor of our fallen or symbolic gestures of deep meaning of complete respect. We arrive representing not only our nation, but our flag and the spirit of adventure.
If you are in the Lake Havasu area Feburary, Saturday on the 28th please stop by and visit with the teams whom will be at the main beach at the Crazy Horse Campgrounds! You will not miss our Patriot Pit Crew! We will continue to post daily updates as we near the Never Quit Challenge 300 deadline for this event!
