Shooting Team Program
There is no doubt that doing what you can do well is a great form of satisfaction and therapy for one’s self esteem. The Shooting Team Program got its start from a conversation with Veterans who were looking for an outlet to belong to; a place to excel and become part of a community that respects members’ abilities and nurtures the talents that they were trained in; and the yearning to tackle any mission set before them. The Phoenix Patriot Foundation (PPF) was asked to step in and give a hand to Veterans that are inspired in this particular athletic arena. Our intention is to build a platform that will engage and strengthen the brotherhood that they volunteered for years before. The Shooting Team Program, while in its infancy, is inspired by the needs of wounded Veterans and is striving to give the members that participate a venue to succeed and grow.
Veterans are often reluctant to voice their needs and find that doing something that they used to do every day is a source of inspiration for them. PPF intends to build on that inspiration. Competing has proven to be a lifeline for Veterans struggling with treatments, hardships and a sense of belonging; this Program intends to lighten their challenges.
The PPF Shooting Team Program provides Veterans with the financial backing to participate in local and regional competitions as well as a forward operations center to engage other like-minded patriots who need a “team” setting to belong and thrive. If you are interested in more information about the Shooting Team Program or if you are interested in having the PPF Shooting Team participate or appear at your local range day or competition, please contact Armando Clark, Team Captain and Program Manager.
The PPF Shooting Team competes to raise awareness about the issues Veterans face as well as building confidence for our members. Although the team is operating on the Texas Gulf Coast at this time, PPF is looking to expand this program in other cities and states. If you are a post 9-11 Veteran and you feel this program appeals to you or you know of a Veteran that could use a sense of belonging, please contact the PPF board member & liaison, Jerry Hébert, for further details.
While Phoenix Patriot Foundation is dedicated to helping the Shooting Team participants achieve their goals and grow, this costs money. We have already had several companies that make gear for the shooting industry, donate equipment to outfit our amazing Patriots. If you know of such companies that would like to contribute, please contact us. We are always looking to better outfit our team members. If you would like to help us keep these guys moving forward with their mission, please donate here:
